In an age when communication is often depersonalized and filtered through screens and headsets, Beckie Kravetz’s Talk to Me invites us into a world of face-to-face emotional interactions. Using ceramic, bronze, and mixed media, Kravetz creates heads, busts, and figures engaged in a range of relationship moments. Viewers may feel as though they’d walked into a family gathering, or happened upon an intimate conversation. Some of the figures interact with masks in internal, solitary dialogue. Kravetz’s background as a theatrical mask maker and opera wig and makeup designer informs and inspires her narrative sculptural figures.
